Tonight I would like to share with you some findings from the Nugget Capital Partners in-house algo. You have probably heard us talk about it on Twitter and often wondered how it can be so accurate and good, or whether it exists at all. In fact, the NCP in-house algo is merely a sentiment gauge. Algorithmic trading is a very imperative part of the modern stock market and it is important for investors with shorter time horizons to understand how it works. Algos can respond within fractions of a second; they can take profits within seconds; they can appear as individuals as they hide the bulwark of their orders with iceberg trades. Algos have both pros & cons.
Twitter is a very useful tool if you filter out the noise, some of it non-sensical politics or like-collecting. It has some of the sharpest financials minds with a very active stream of investing ideas being shared by the second. A lot of accounts simply exist to share breaking financial news, such as macro print which can have an immediate impact of a market outcome which could impact your entry point or perhaps encourage an investor to take quick profits. My guess is that most individual investors in North American probably do not have the financial fluency to access critical data as we do on X, let alone make use of it if they did have access to it.
